This hall brings together several paintings from the second half of the eighteenth century that come from the very early years of the Accademia’s history. They are mainly pièces di réception presented by painters as trial pieces to show their artistic prowess when they first enrolled in the Venetian institution. One wall is dedicated to historical–allegorical pieces placed around an Annunciation by Giambattista Pittoni, while the facing wall contains the main trial pieces of the perspective painters from the study of architecture course. The central area is occupied by a striking Perspective View with Portico by Canaletto, donated by the artist to the Accademia as an examination piece for architectural drawing.
