This room has been set aside as a gallery of portraits by eighteenth- and nineteenth-century artists to honour the painters and sculptors who were such important figures in two centuries of Venetian art. Portrayed by themselves or by their friends and fellow artists, Francesco Bartolozzi, Luigi Crespi, Francesco Maggiotto, Francesco Hayez, Antonio Zona, and Tranquillo Cremona all leave a trace of their appearance and activity. Another portrait to add to these is that of Father Lodoli, an architectural theorist whose rationalist ideas had such an important cultural impact at the time.
